BYOV: Snowflake

To set up your Snowflake BYOV account on your 5X workspace, navigate to the Data Warehouse category in Integrations. Click Bring my own account from Add vendor on the Snowflake tile to configure the setup.

Prerequisites

  • A dedicated user account on Snowflake for 5X.

  • 5X uses static IPs to connect to your warehouse. Please ensure your firewall is configured to allow the connection from these IP addresses:

    • 3.217.202.216

    • 3.211.173.46

    • 174.129.146.62

Configure Snowflake BYOV

Users need to configure and test source details to complete the BYOV vendor setup. The setup guide mentions the prerequisites, account roles, and required actions needed for the configuration.

  1. Configure your Snowflake source details and Continue. Configure the user account details, and select your Snowflake account plan and Cloud platform if any.

    The user account should have the required roles:

    • ACCOUNTADMIN, SECURITYADMIN and SYSADMIN.

5X access your Snowflake account using a dedicated user account for 5X. We recommend naming the user account as fivex_user for 5X to access and manage your Snowflake account.

Template script to execute for creating the user account on Snowflake:

-- Create a user CREATE USER fivex_user PASSWORD = '';
-- Grant the ACCOUNTADMIN role GRANT ROLE ACCOUNTADMIN TO USER fivex_user;
-- Grant the SYSADMIN role GRANT ROLE SYSADMIN TO USER fivex_user;
-- Grant the SECURITYADMIN role GRANT ROLE SECURITYADMIN TO USER fivex_user;

The standard URL format is: https://<account_name>.<region>.snowflakecomputing.com

Example: https://abc12345.us-west-2.snowflakecomputing.com

  1. 5X tests the connection to Snowflake when it establishes a connection with the account and validates the credentials. Once the connection testing is successful, Continue.

Once 5X finishes setting up your Snowflake integration, click Done to enable vendor permission and activate Snowflake on 5X.
